Andrew Harrison

Andrew Harrison was born in 1965 of English parents, and was brought up and educated in Germany. His outlook has been inspired by the mysticism of Meister Eckhart, Boehme and the Greek philosopher Heraclitus. Of importance to his development was a period spent in a monastery on the Isle of Wight.

His iconography is often Gothic in its inspiration, as well as drawing on Greek myth. The drawings are an attempt to combine form, movement, meaning, even colour into the simplest lines. The paintings too, are based on a linear structure, allowing colour to act as a receptacle and catalyst for pure emotion.

His work in the theatre as a set designer and painter has given him an area of concern outside the studio. He has written one novel and is currently working on his second.
