Michael Chaitow
Michael Chaitow is a painter and teacher; he trained at Central St. Martin's School of Art in London after some years' experience in Commercial Art. Michael's painting draws inspiration from the metaphysical traditions of both Christian and Hindu mysticism. He finds India fundamental to his universal conception of spirit, and in no way incompatible with Christian revelation. His painting has links with the British tradition through the writings of Hopkins, Wordsworh and Blake.
The forms in Nature are often a starting point in his work. The human figure also is a re-occurring theme, often heroic, in the Renaissance sense.
These compositions aim at representing the fundamental Human drama - without underplaying the role of suffering, they are ultimately optimistic. |
